Practice Trainee Programme

CMS Holborn Asia is currently accepting applications for the Singapore Training Programme, which is intended to provide suitable candidates with an opportunity to become qualified in Singapore.

We offer a practical training programme that gives trainees an opportunity to get hands-on training in domestic, regional and international transactions, projects and cases. Successful candidates are talented law students with strong academics, drive, and curiosity, who are eager to learn. The CMS Practice Training Contract programme offers trainees maximum exposure through a rotation of all our practice groups. We have designed the structure of our Practice Training Contract to give you the widest range of experience within our business in line with the training requirements in the Legal Profession Act and the Legal Profession (Admission) Rules 2011. You will receive supervision and support from senior lawyers, practical scheduled training modules covering major aspects of corporate, commercial, construction and infrastructure, energy oil & gas and dispute resolution practice, TMT and a dedicated mentor for career guidance. An honorarium will also be provided through the Practice Training Period.

Internship Programme

CMS Holborn Asia is currently accepting applications for the Singapore Internship Programme, which is intended to provide suitable candidates with an opportunity to become a paralegal in Singapore.

Temasek Polytechnic Paralegal Internships - Dispute Resolution 

  • 2 September – 11 October 2019 
  • 9 March – 17 April 2020

This placement for up to two law undergraduates from Temasek Polytechnic is open to those students who are undergoing their final year of study. The successful intern(s) will undertake contentious work in the Litigation, Arbitration, Insurance & Employment; or Infrastructure Construction & Energy Department. 

You will directly assist with contentious matters, including litigation, international and domestic arbitration, and construction adjudications. It is contemplated that your duties will include involvement in (a) legal research, (b) drafting of pleadings, basic legal correspondence, (c) collection of evidence and preparation of affidavits, (d) assisting in and attending hearings

We will be accepting applications for the above internship from 1 May – 12 July 2019 and 1 November 2019 – 15 January 2020. Successful applicants will be informed by mid July 2019 and mid January 2020 respectively.

Temasek Polytechnic Paralegal Internship – Transactional 

  • 2 September – 11 October 2019
  • 9 March – 17 April 2020

This placement is open to law undergraduates from Temasek Polytechnic who are undergoing their final year of study. The intern will undertake transactional work and be attached to the Corporate & Commercial; Infrastructure, Construction & Energy; or Technology, Media & Telecommunications Department. 

You will directly assist with transactional work in these departments, most of which will be cross-border in nature. It is contemplated that most of their duties will be in connection with live transactions and would include involvement in (a) legal research, (b) drafting of contract documents and simple legal documentation (resolutions etc.), (c) assisting with conditions precedent in connection with bringing transactions to closing, and (d) other ad hoc tasks which are in connection with ongoing transactions. This is a role which would be suitable and of relevance to anyone who is considering or who is keen on pursuing a career in future in transactional work, whether as a paralegal or otherwise.

We will be accepting applications for the above internship from 1 May – 12 July 2019 and 1 November 2019 – 15 January 2020. Successful applicants will be informed by mid July 2019 and mid-January 2020 respectively.

Mid-year internships in Singapore office - Students from Singapore Universities 

These are open to law students from Singapore universities who have completed their first year of study. There are two placements available, each for 3 weeks. In the year 2019, the dates are as follows: -

  • 20 May to 7 June 2019 
  • 3 June to 21 June 2019

Summer internships in Singapore office - Students from universities outside of Singapore

These are open to law students from universities outside Singapore who have completed their first year of study. There are two placements available, each for 3 weeks. In the year 2019, the dates are as follows: -

  • 24 June to 12 July 2019
  • 15 July to 2 August 2019
  • 5 August to 23 August 2019

We will be accepting applications for all mid-year and summer internships throughout the month of May 2019.
