Jacob Quek

Jacob Quek is a transactional lawyer with the Energy, Projects and Construction practice group in CMS Holborn Asia. His areas of practice include the review of, advising on and preparation of an array of projects and construction documentation. Jacob also has experience in the energy space (renewables and oil and gas) and in the conduct of due diligence on energy and infrastructure contracts as part of various corporate transactional deals. 

Jacob was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the Singapore Management University where he was placed on the Dean’s List and graduated with a Magna Cum Laude (High Distinction).

Relevant experience

  • Project and corporate structuring in relation to a national offshore oil corporation’s investment into the LNG industry in Cambodia. 
  • Preparation and review of commercial contracts in relation to several business units for a Japanese petrochemical manufacturer.
  • The Tamarind Group of companies in relation to offshore oil and gas development agreements and advice including tie-in agreements and facility agreements.
  • Sale and purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates based on the I-REC Standard issued based on the environmental attributes of electricity generated in a solar power plant in India. 
  • Development of a soot processing facility pursuant to a soot disposal and collection agreement entered into with specialist gas multinational.
  • Preparation and drafting of construction contracts for several high value projects in Singapore, Southeast Asia and abroad based on inter alia the FIDIC and SIA standard forms.
  • Facility Agreement by group of companies in the renewable energy space involving the upsizing of the debt amount by US$10million and the ascension of an Indonesian SPV as an obligor.
  • A group of data centre companies in relation to consultancy agreements, construction agreements and localisation of standard form contracts for use in the Asia region. 
  • Preparation of project documentation (including Framework Agreements, Development Sales Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, and Leasing Agreements) for several power providers for projects in Southeast Asia.
  • One of the two Integrated Resorts in Singapore on its expansion and reinvigoration project with an investment of approximately S$4.5 billion.
  • Preparation of a joint venture agreement for the joint tender for bored piling works projects.
  • An investor on the due diligence on a clean energy solutions provider carrying out the supply and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems as part of a deal involving the subscription of shares.
  • An investor on the due diligence on an infrastructure and construction company as part of a deal involving the sale of the company’s entire share capital.
