For the second consecutive year, CMS Holborn Asia has been awarded TMT Law Firm of the Year at the prestigious Asian Legal Business (ALB) Southeast Asia Law Awards 2019, held last night in Singapore.
The awards, organised by the legal media and attended by the biggest law firms and in-house teams in Southeast Asia, recognises the leaders in the region across a wide variety of practice areas and sectors.
The firm’s Southeast Asia TMT practice is hubbed out of its Singapore office and works with clients from startups through to global technology, media and telecoms companies and governments on all aspects of TMT law, regulation and public policy. The team is led by Partner Matt Pollins and Director Jeremy Tan and offers clients both international and local law capability via CMS Holborn Asia, the Formal Law Alliance that was effective from September 2017*.
“This category gets more competitive every year, so to win it twice in a row is a huge testament to the team”, says Matt Pollins. “We are fortunate to have an incredibly talented set of lawyers with a genuine passion for TMT. They bring that passion and energy to the work they do for our clients every day, whether it’s for our multi-national tech and media clients, our pro bono and social enterprise clients, or the policymakers with whom we are working to advance TMT regulation in the region. We are very proud to see their work being recognised at an industry level in this way.”
Jeremy Tan adds, “The TMT sector is a rapidly growing and constantly evolving space, especially in Singapore and across the region, which brings challenges but also great opportunities for our clients. Therefore, it is a great honour to be recognised for the role that we play in supporting our clients in exploiting new technologies, capitalising on opportunities and managing the impact that new laws have on their businesses. The award is a recognition of the hard work that the team in Singapore has put in to better understand our clients’ businesses so that we can serve as a seamless extension of their legal team and provide them with high quality, practical advice. While we appreciate the recognition, the greatest award is really being in the position to help our clients obtain and maintain their market lead.”
Managing Partner of CMS Singapore, Toby Grainger comments, “To have won the award for a second year running shows our dedication, depth and skillsets needed to service our clients, not just in Singapore but across the entire Southeast Asia region and beyond. We are pleased to have a market leading, regional team to support our clients as they embark on exciting and innovative TMT projects in Southeast Asia.”
*With effect from 1 September 2017, CMS is pleased to announce a formal law alliance (FLA) between its Singapore office and Singapore law practice Holborn Law LLC. The FLA, which has received approval from the Legal Services Regulatory Authority of Singapore, will operate under the name CMS Holborn Asia.
